New Buisness Cards!!

I'm excited because I'm going to order some shiney new buisness cards! Yes they will be shiney and they will actually have rounded corners! I'm a bit obsessed with rounded edges atm for some reason...
Also I wanted to mention that I am setting up a home page which will have a little folio/gallery on it and I have also made some Tumblr blogs so that I can post all the irrelevant stuff onto there and just have this as a sketchblog.

Hopefully some actual pics for you soon xxx

Nightmares

I keep having nightmares. Last night I dreamt there was some kind of monsoon and my bedroom ceiling was dripping water. Then a red rhino / triceratops crashed through our house.
Then I dreamt I was drawing something for my year 3, school teacher (Mrs Wilson: ex P.E teacher) and she said it was rubbish and then I had to hide from her. It was in uni, but it was also a shopping centre so there were lots of people that I could hide behind to avoid her at all costs.
Sorry there have been no drawings recently. I have just been doing sort of drawing things from books just for practice so that wont be very interesting. I have, however, made a set of stickers which I can upload a picture of soon.

The Interior-Designer Bird

http://youtu.be/E1zmfTr2d4c

Moral of the story: Deer dung is a very select sort of fetish.

Right now I'm alternating between feeling lethargic and stressed.
After the 26th I may have nowhere for my belongings to belong.

The Devil's Baby

Last night I dreamt The Devil visited me.
Everyone looked like characters from The Sims.
He said to me he would make it so that I could have a baby without having to give birth to it.
However, I would have to marry one of three men he had selected, and leave my boyfriend.
They were all good looking and one of them had huge, beautiful blue eyes.
They looked smart but they scared me: I did not know them.
I told The Devil there would be no deal.

I'd rather stay with Sim Adam.

Alternative Press Fair II

As I was saying, we visited the Alternative Press Festival in London and there were lots of zines, cider and mysterious train disapperences.

We were helping with our stall for our illustration course, you can find out about what we make here: http://www.pittvillepress.co.uk/
I got a zine for free which said "Josie Long implores you to- Be Honourable! -on tour." which confused me but I think she is a comedian: http://www.justthetonic.com/comedy-tours/josie-long-be-honourable/4/

We also got given The Other Side, which is a free London culture magazine which apparently started out as a very low budget zine. It has some brilliant writing in it. http://www.theothersidemag.co.uk/

Our French friend gave us his website; http://www.thehoochiecoochie.com/

At the end of the festival we recieved free copies of The Comix Reader and I admire the work of Richard Cowdry; who is also the editior. http://www.thecomixreader.com/

I bought a zine from a girl named Sofia (from Sweden) called something like From Dusky Armpits, unfortunately I left it in Essex but I think their website is http://kollasling.blogspot.com/ Also I can't actually understand the website...

Here's some photos!

My cheap blue sketchbook from London, featuring a Tee fox sticker

Alternative Press Fair I

This weekend Tee and I went to The Alternative Press Festival in London. Was pretty cool and a little unexpected since it was quite small but very packed. I felt quite out of place seeing as most sellers were comic artists or properly into making zines and things. I only sold one of my own mini-zines.
However, we got to meet some really interesting people and drink a lot of cider and Pimms.

Also our train mysteriously vanished.
We still don't understand what happened there.

Check back soon for links, pictures and photographs =D

Crazy Late Night Snacks

Got up at 3am last night to make some banana curry.
It was actually quite nice, so I'm recording the recipe XD

  • Melt olive spread (or marg or butter) in frying pan
  • Fry sliced banana and add few pinches of curry powder
  • Pour on some milk (I used semi-skimmed) and add about a teaspoon of honey (for 2 smallish bananas)
  • Let it reduce a bit and so that the banana mushes into the sauce
  • Serve and eat. You might want to have a bit of bread or something with it or just eat with a spoon.
I dare you to try it out and come back to me with whether I am actually crazy or not.

At Pittville; Everything Goes

On wednesday we had a one day project where the brief was to produce a zine based on Pittville campus. I worked with Chris Dent to produce a series of collages based on unknown or unusual spaces on campus. This one is my favourite of my own collages.

Spring Thing

Daffodils on the way to Pittville Campus

My birds with Mr Stoat, Sukie and Phillipe

Having a bit of a bad time at the moment. My life is a bit messy and my bedroom reflects this.
Not really any real reason for me to be unhappy and that's why I am so confused. I'm trying my best to finish this year. I can't wait for Easter now.
I have been doing lots of experiments to find a way I really like working in, which will be big and expressive but also appropriate for a finished illustration.
I've also attempted to make some little 3D bird things. Now I have a varnished hand.

Editorial failures

The digital one was my first attempt but it looks really odd.
I can't decide which one is actually better but at the time I submitted the ink one because I hated the digital one.
The brief was to illustrate an article about supermarkets competing on organic food prices.

Cheeseman adventures?

I should explain that Cheeseman is a Superhero who unfortunately happens to be a piece of broccoli. He was born when I was studying sequential illustration. Here, he is clearly dissapointed when he sees that some cheese has stolen his name. Now that you two have been introduced, future adventures need no explanation.

And Watered Heaven

This is my book cover for my children's book mock up.
I was quite unhappy with this project because I couldn't do it as well as I wanted due to time constraints.
However, I tried something different and now I know what sort of things I could do with photoshop.

Threw Down Their Spears

Still working on the children's book mock-up.
Photoshop saves me time but I dislike it.

"And When The Stars..."

At this moment I am working on a children's book which I am writing and illustrating.
It's likely to be in that 'picture books for older children' category that picture books with lots of words seem to go in.
I'll see how it goes, if it turns out good I might finish it/ try and get it published/ get some printed and sell it myself.
Anyways I have here some sketches that might be of interest to you.

I was thinking that I would like all the characters to look kind of floaty and free, mythical and with some sort of webbing/wing/fin/flipper, because at the beggining of the story all the animals can float around as though there was no such thing as gravity.

As for Supernova Clover... she was already a character I had, and she's an alien so she doesn't count. Im not sure why she has a ruff in this picture to be honest, I just felt it was needed, at the time, I think.

Even more sea

In the story she has a mental breakdown and runs away to the sea where she used to live, but her childhood home has been destroyed and she has lost contact with her parents. In the last picture she stands on the edge of a cliff. Her efforts to return to happiness were in vain and she does not know what to do next.
